Number of classes being reduced in five minority primary schools

The number of classes and teachers in three minority primary schools in Rhodope and two in Xanthi is being reduced on the grounds of lack of students. According to the decision signed by the Deputy Minister of Education Domna Mihailidu and published in the Official Gazette, the number of classes and teachers in the Turkish minority schools are as follows:

RODOP PROVINCE:
1- Yassıköy Turkish Minority Primary School - from 6 to 4 classes
2- Kurcali Turkish Minority Primary School - from 6 to 4 classrooms
3- Ircan Turkish Minority Primary School - from 4 classrooms to 2 classrooms

ISKECE PROVINCE:
1- Paşevik Turkish Minority Primary School - from 6 to 4 classrooms
2- Dolaphan Turkish Minority Primary School - from 4 classrooms to 2 classrooms
The decision will be effective from the 2024 - 2025 academic year. Meanwhile, it was stated that the schools in question have been working with the proposed order due to the lack of students in recent years and the de facto situation has been formalised with the latest decision.
