Mustafa Şentop visited Komotini

Mustafa Şentop, former President of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (TBMM), visited Komotini. On Sunday evening, 7 April, Şentop prayed Tarawih prayers with the cognates in Komotini and participated in the sahur programme.

Mustafa Şentop visited the Komotini Turkish Youth Association (GTGB) on Sunday evening, 7 April. Here he was welcomed by GTGB President Sedat Hasan and the executives of the association, Consul General of Türkiye in Komotini Aykut Ünal, Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Turkish Minority of Western Thrace and Mufti of Komotini İbrahim Şerif and members of the Advisory Board. Şentop also chatted with the cognates at GTGB.

Şentop and his entourage performed the tarawih prayer at Yenimahalle Mosque in Komotini. Şentop then attended the sahur programme organised in GTGB.

In his speech, Mustafa Şentop celebrated the Eid al-Fitr feast of the cognates and said, "Today in the morning we were in Konya for a funeral. Then we returned to Istanbul by plane and travelled to Komotini. We were hoping to come earlier and attend your iftar, but we could not make it to the iftar. Please forgive us. I would like to say that 85 million people in Türkiye have a different affection for you. Türkiye's approach to deal with its brothers and sisters and their problems in the foreign world has changed radically. There is now a new understanding and a new paradigm. This is no longer the policy of a political party. It has become a state policy of Türkiye."

İbrahim Şerif, President of the Advisory Board of the Turkish Minority of Western Thrace and Mufti of Komotini, Mustafa Trampa, Mufti of Xanthi and Aykut Ünal, Consul General of Türkiye in Komotini also made welcoming speeches at the sahur programme.

Former Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye Mustafa Şentop and his entourage then left Komotini to return to Türkiye.
