Muftis Trampa, Şerif highlight Western Thrace Turks at cultural event in Edirne

Two prominent religious leaders from Western Thrace, Mustafa Trampa, Mufti of İskeçe and Chairman of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority Advisory Board, and İbrahim Şerif, Mufti of Gümülcine, participated as speakers in an event held in Edirne, Türkiye, titled “The Western Thrace Turkish Minority and Its Cultural Values.”
The event took place on Friday, June 20, and was organized by the Edirne Provincial Directorate of National Education, under the Turkish Ministry of National Education. The event welcomed students from ten different provinces across Türkiye, aiming to raise awareness about the Western Thrace Turkish community and its cultural heritage.
In a social media post, Mufti Trampa shared his reflections on the event:
“Together with our esteemed Gümülcine Mufti İbrahim Şerif, we took part in the talk titled ‘The Western Thrace Turkish Minority and Its Cultural Values’, organized under the ‘From the Past to the Future Project’ by the Edirne Provincial Directorate of National Education. We tried to convey our cause to the distinguished students coming from various cities of Türkiye. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Edirne education authorities for this valuable opportunity.”
The event served as an important platform to promote dialogue and foster understanding between the youth of Türkiye and the Turkish minority of Western Thrace, highlighting shared historical and cultural ties.
