Mother’s Day celebrated at Xanthi Turkish Union with heartwarming event

The Xanthi Turkish Union (İskeçe Türk Birliği - İTB) held a special event on Sunday, May 11, 2025, to celebrate Mother’s Day, bringing together families, children, and community leaders in a joyful and emotional gathering.
Organized annually by the İTB Women’s Branch, the event took place at the İTB headquarters and attracted a large turnout from Xanthi and surrounding villages.
The program was hosted by İpek Salihoğlu, a member of the İTB Board of Directors. The opening speech was delivered by Sevgi Sezai, President of the Women’s Branch, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to all those involved in organizing the celebration and extended warm wishes to all mothers.
As part of the program, children from Xanthi and nearby villages recited poems dedicated to mothers, earning enthusiastic applause from the audience for their touching performances. Additionally, the İTB Music Group, led by instructor Merve Kara, performed a selection of songs, further enriching the festive atmosphere.
To conclude the event, the İTB Women’s Branch distributed small gifts to all participating children as a token of appreciation.
The celebration was attended by several notable figures, including members of the İTB Women’s Branch and Board of Directors, as well as Nadire Ömer Trampa, wife of Xanthi Mufti Mustafa Trampa; Şerife Mustafaoğlu, wife of MP Hüseyin Zeybek; Ayşe Baran, wife of MP Burhan Baran; Özlem Otuzbir, wife of WTMUGA President Hüseyin Baltacı; Sevtap Hint, President of WTMUGA Women’s Branch; Aysel Sağır, President of the Xanthi Turkish Women’s Cultural Association; and representatives from the FEP Party, Cavide Nizam and Aysun Kara, among many other invited guests.
The event served as a powerful reminder of the importance of mothers and the role they play in the family and community.
