The Council Committee recommended that students not be sent to Minority primary schools on Friday, 17 December, in response to the unlawful practices and usurpation of rights in minority education.

In the statement made by the Council Committee of Minority Schools in Western Thrace, it was reported that on Friday, December 17, it was decided to advise the councilors and parents not to send students to all minority primary schools across Western Thrace.

The statement made by the Minority Schools Council Committee regarding the issue is as follows:

“Considering that, in the online meeting held on December 7, the members of the Council Committee of the Minority, and the Supervisory Board, the administration did not give up on its unfair and unlawful practices and even added a new unlawfulness to them every day;

In order to put an end to unlawful practices, to make our voices heard both to the Greek and international public opinion and to draw attention to the usurpation of rights, they decided to advise the councilors and parents not to send students to all minority primary schools across Western Thrace on Friday, 17 December.

On this occasion and on the occasion of December 10, World Human Rights Day, we would like to remind our country's administrators once again that the right to education is one of the most important human rights. The status of minority education has been determined by international and bilateral agreements, and this status cannot be abolished by unilateral will and by domestic legal regulations contrary to these agreements. This is clearly lawlessness, ignoring international law and is a huge disgrace for our country, Greece, which is claimed to be the cradle of democracy.

Distinguished Councilors and Respected Parents; Let's not forget that our children are our future! If we don't want our future to be mortgaged, let's all say NO to GASP."
