MİLLET is on trial again!
The lawsuit for compensation of 50 thousand euros filed by the Ierodidaskalos against Millet is today (9-5-2022).
5 so-called appointed imams, known as "Ierodidaskalos" in the Turkish Minority, are demanding compensation of 50 thousand euros from our newspaper, together with the religiously forbidden interest.
The so-called imams known as "ierodidaskalos" or "240 appointed imams" are not accepted by the minority because they are imposed on by the administration in violation of the Treaty of Lausanne.
The chairman and four members of the so-called "Islamic Religious Education Teachers' Association" demanded 50 thousand euros in compensation from the Millet newspaper, along with the religiously forbidden interest, in the lawsuit they filed.
5 so-called religious teachers, members of the “Ierodidaskalos Association”, in the news titled "Blow after coup against the Turkish Minority from the Mitsotakis government" published on the website of our newspaper on August 1, 2020, "lie", "slander" and "slanderous" expressions that offend their reputation and honor are used filed a claim for compensation.
The so-called "Islamic Religious Teachers" named Ahmet Ali Abdullah, Mustafa Baş Mustafa, Mustafa Baş Mehmet and İlyas Hüseyin, who are members of the “İerodidaskalos Association”, filed a complaint about the aforementioned news of the Millet newspaper. These people applied to the Xanthi Civil Court of First Instance with a demand for compensation of 50 thousand euros from our newspaper.
The petition filed by Attorney Stergios Kellis on April 6, 2021 was delivered to the Millet newspaper on Thursday, April 8th. The compensation case, which was supposed to be discussed on November 15, 2021, was postponed to Monday, May 9, 2022. The case will be heard at 10:05 today.
“SO COLLED” RELİGİOS PEOPLE DEMAND THE INTEREST THAT IS HARAM
The so-called "Islamic religion teachers", who complained about the news of the Millet newspaper and whose names were mentioned in the lawsuit petition, are demanding compensation of 10 thousand euros for each, for a total of 50 thousand euros, together with the interests that are forbidden in the religion of Islam.
It has been recorded as a major scandal that these individuals, who claimed to be teachers of the religion of Islam and demanded compensation from our newspaper, demanded interest, which is haram in our religion, from the day the lawsuit was filed until the conclusion of the lawsuit, together with compensation.
In the petition, it was noted that only five of the 130 appointed Ierodidaskalos were offended from some of the statements in the aforementioned news and that these people regarded some of the statements as insults and therefore demanded compensation for the moral damage they claimed, together with the forbidden interest by Islam.
In the lawsuit petition, which seems to have attributed arbitrary meanings to the translation of the newspaper article, it was claimed that the "Ieordidaskalos" were insulted with unfounded news and slanderous expressions, and that religious sentiments were provoked by this news, and an attempt was made to fantasize the minority nationally and religiously.
In the news allegedly containing “slant and slanderous statements”, Millet newspaper discussed the law arbitrarily prepared by the Greek Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs, ignoring international law and Minority rights, and stipulating that the appointed Mufti Regents be the head of the committee of the council in the madrasas in Komotini and Xanthi.
In the news, the issue was analyzed comprehensively and within this framework, the issue of Ierodidaskalos, which is not accepted by the Minority, was reflected in line with the reactions of our society.
THEY HAVE USE THE TERMS THAT THEY CONSIDER DEFINITELY IN THE APPLICATION OF THE CASE
It was also noteworthy that 5 ministry officials, who stated that they were offended by being called "so-called religious teachers" in the petition, used the term "So-called Turkish Minority" for the Muslim Turkish Minority of Western Thrace.
Expressing the Western Thrace Muslim Turkish Community, to which they belong, as the "So-called Turkish Minority", with terms they accept as offensive and insulting, even if they do not accept it, is considered as an indicator of how alienated they are from their own society and essence.
WHAT IS GREECE TRYING TO DO?
Greece, within the framework of its assimilation policies towards the Turkish Minority, has accelerated its work especially in recent years and seized religious and educational institutions with laws and regulations that erode the "minority" status.
It is understood that the state, which previously banned the national identity of the Minority by closing associations with the word "Turkish" in its name, now aims to transform the Turkish Minority into "Greek Muslims" by eliminating the "minority" status with laws against human rights. For this reason, it arbitrarily shapes Minority institutions by confiscating them with their salaried so-called religious officials and similar staff.
It seems that when the Western Thrace Turkish Minority society reacts to the interventions and pressures against human rights and international agreements, the state mechanism takes action and resorts to different methods of silencing. These lawsuits are also recorded as one of the clearest indicators of this.
