A new historical work by Mehmet İmamoğlu titled “Hemetli Village & Western Thrace Under Bulgarian Administration” will be presented to readers as part of a public book launch and discussion event organized by the Western Thrace Turkish Teachers’ Union (BTTÖB) and the Western Thrace Minority Culture and Education Company (BAKEŞ).

The event will take place on Saturday, February 14, at 13:00, at the premises of the Western Thrace Turkish Teachers’ Union.

Exploring Local History and Regional Memory

İmamoğlu’s book focuses on the history of Hemetli Village and the broader historical period when Western Thrace was under Bulgarian administration. The work contributes to ongoing academic and community discussions about regional identity, historical memory, and minority heritage in Western Thrace.

Organizers describe the event as part of a broader “Book Presentation and Discussion” series aimed at promoting cultural awareness and intellectual exchange within the community.

Open Invitation to the Public

According to BAKEŞ, the event is open to the public, offering attendees the opportunity to engage directly with the author and participate in discussion about the historical themes addressed in the book.

The presentation is expected to draw educators, researchers, community members, and readers interested in Western Thrace history and minority studies.
