Mehmet Bostancı re-elected as headman of Küçük Derbent
In the local elections held in Greece on Sunday, 8 October, three lists competed in Sofulu Municipality of Evros province.
These were the List of Co-operation Development Harmony, headed by the current mayor Panagiotis Kalakikos, the List of the Power of Unity, headed by Stamatios Chakiris, and the List of the Coalition of the People of Sofulu, headed by Hristos Kouyumcus.
The results of the elections in Sofulu Municipality were announced in the first week. The current mayor Panagiotis Kalakikos and the Co-operation Development Harmony List headed by him emerged victorious from the elections.
Kalakikos was re-elected as mayor with 58.61 per cent of the total 5,491 votes received by the councillor and mukhtar candidates in his team, exceeding the 43 per cent threshold.
In the elections held for Sofulu Municipality, there was a big race for the Mukhtar of Küçük Derbent. Many names from three lists competed to be the headman of the region.
The winner of the elections was the current mukhtar Mehmet Bostanci, who was on the list of the incumbent and re-elected mayor Panagiotis Kalakakis.
Mehmet Bostancı, who has been the mukhtar of Küçük Derbent district for two terms, has always provided the best service to the villages and neighbourhoods he is responsible for, and has always been with the people in social activities, has succeeded in winning the hearts, trust and support of the people of the region again in these elections.
Mehmet Bostancı was elected as the Mukhtar of Küçük Derbent for the third time by receiving 468 of the votes cast in 5 ballot boxes in Büyük Derbent, Küçük Derbent, Çilingir Mahalle, Babalar and Ruşenler villages.
In addition to the villages mentioned above, in 5 ballot boxes set up in Küçük Derbent region, Kartunça, Taşal, Mevsimler, Kütüklü, Karaören, Küseler, Çüçekli and Yılanlı neighbourhoods also voted.
Mehmet Bostancı, who received more support and more votes from the citizens residing in Küçük Derbent region compared to his competitors, will continue to serve the people of the region as Küçük Derbent Muhtar in the new term.
