Alleged Dispute Over Minor Debt

Sources indicate that tension had recently arisen between the two families, allegedly stemming from a minor debt dispute. In recent days, small arguments between the parties were said to have intensified.

Suspect Arrested

Authorities report that the 61-year-old suspect allegedly went to the victim’s home carrying a pickaxe. After reportedly breaking the locked door with the tool, he is accused of striking the victim on the head multiple times. The victim died at the scene due to severe head injuries.

Following reports from villagers, police and medical teams were dispatched to the area. The suspect was taken into custody shortly after the incident.

The victim’s body was transferred to İskeçe State Hospital for autopsy. Burial arrangements are expected to be finalized after the autopsy report is completed.

Investigation Underway

Hellenic Police has launched a broad investigation into the incident. The suspect remains in custody and is expected to be referred to judicial authorities.

A relative of the victim told local media that the village is in deep shock, noting that such an incident had never occurred there before. The relative also clarified that, contrary to some reports, the attack was carried out with a pickaxe, not an axe.

The tragic event has left the small community grieving and unsettled.
