Mahya tradition continues in Sinikova
The village of Sinikova (Cami neighborhood) in the Municipality of Mustafçova once again upheld its traditional mahya celebration this year. The event, organized largely by local youth, took place on Sunday, August 24.
Representing the Mufti of İskeçe, Mustafa Trampa, Deputy Mufti Ahmet Hraloğlu attended the ceremony, conveyed Trampa’s greetings and congratulations, and led the prayer.
Mustafçova Mayor Ahmet Kurt also addressed participants, offering congratulations to those who organized the event. Among the attendees were former Mayor Cemil Kabza and several clerics from the İskeçe Muftiate.
Hundreds of people from Sinikova and surrounding villages joined the celebration, where traditional dishes of meat pilaf and ayran were served.
The strong sense of solidarity and cooperation shown by the Sinikova youth in ensuring the success of the mahya ceremony was widely praised.
