"Let's support the candidates who will fight for the Turkish Minority"
Western Thrace Turks Solidarity Association (BTTDD) President Hasan Küçük wished success to all candidates from Western Thrace Turkish Minority in the elections to be held on Sunday 8 October.
In his statement, President Küçük said, "We are at a point where we should see a new election, a new agenda, renewing our hopes, reinforcing our belief in struggle as a minority. Now, our expectation is that on 8 October, the Turkish Minority of Western Thrace will support the candidates who accept the Turkish Minority of Western Thrace as an essential element like its own existence, who will fight for the minority with all their strength, who will produce and implement projects that will contribute to the development of the most backward region of Greece in terms of economic development and who will fight to provide economic welfare to the Turkish Minority, and who will put their will and go to the polls to be elected as mayor, municipal council member and state council member".
Mr Küçük wished success to all candidates who are members of the minority and stated the following in his statement
"Once again, with these criteria, I invite the Turkish Minority of Western Thrace to support the candidates who will take the road with the community and with us in this struggle in the new period with its own conscience and decision and to go to the polls, and I invite the candidates to be elected to work hand in hand in harmony on behalf of the community to achieve all our legal rights that have been taken away from us for years as a whole with all minority members and institutions.
While wishing success to the candidates in this process, I hope that we will have a very successful working period together with our elected brothers and sisters, and I say that we should focus on our struggle for our rightful rights that we will never give up.
Another issue that should be known in line with these facts is that the 77-year-old sycamore Western Thrace Turks Solidarity Association continues and will always continue without deviating from the stance it has put forward by saying TURK'S VOTE TO TURK today as in the past.
However, due to the specific situation of the local elections, in the regions where Turkish candidates compete within themselves, in order to avoid misunderstandings or internal fractures, we have not and will never enter into a transport organisation for our compatriots who will go to our hometown from the homeland to the elections. Our attitude on this issue is as clear as this.
In the elections to be held on 8 October Sunday, I wish all Turkish candidates who set out to serve the Turkish Minority of Western Thrace equal distance and equal distance and I wish success to each of them in the elections."
