Let's save it before it disappears too!...
In Komotini, many artefacts from the Ottoman period have disappeared over the years. While many buildings that should be taken under protection have succumbed to the years, the appearance of the city is changing along with the lost historical and architectural artefacts.
Komotini journalist and former Anadolu Agency correspondent Mehmet Hatipoğlu drew attention to a similar situation with a post on his social media account. In his post, Hatipoğlu published a photograph of a fountain from the Ottoman period located opposite the old rectorate building in Komotini. The historical fountain located at the entrance of the street near Kumara neighbourhood is struggling to survive. The historical structure almost calls out to the authorities and says "save me".
Drawing attention to the condition of the historical fountain, Mehmet Hatipoğlu calls for the rescue of the building with the note "Does anyone know the location of this old monument in Komotini, which insists on standing with its inscription despite all kinds of negativities? I'm telling you, this is going too."
