Late Ali Salihoğlu remembered at his grave
Ali Salihoğlu, who served as a long-time administrator at the Xanthi Turkish Union, was commemorated on the second anniversary of his passing at his grave in the village of Inhanlı.
The memorial ceremony, held on January 30, 2025, began with the recitation of the Quran by İsmet Tüccar, followed by a prayer conducted by the religious official of Inhanlı, Hilmi Karahüseyin.
After the prayers, the President of the Xanthi Turkish Union (İTB), Ozan Ahmetoğlu, shared information about the valuable contributions of the late Ali Salihoğlu. Ahmetoğlu emphasized that Salihoğlu's commitment and dedication to the cause of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority would never be forgotten.
Metin Hacıosman, the Deputy Chairperson of the DEB Party, where Ali Salihoğlu had served as a member of the Central Executive Committee, Fatma Saliemin, President of the Kırköy Education and Culture Association's Women's Branch, Kerem Abdurahimoğlu on behalf of BAKEŞ, and Ali Salihoğlu’s sister, İpek Salihoğlu, also delivered speeches.
In their speeches, the speakers highlighted Ali Salihoğlu's services to the Western Thrace Turkish Community and his fighting spirit. The ceremony was attended by Cem Salihoğlu, Deputy Mayor of Inhanlı, as well as other relatives and villagers from Inhanlı.
İTB President Ozan Ahmetoğlu expressed his gratitude to all attendees for their participation in the event.
After the ceremony, the family of Ali Salihoğlu hosted a meal for the guests.
In a statement following the ceremony, the İTB expressed: “We remember our administrator and dear brother, Ali Salihoğlu, once again with mercy, longing, and respect. WE WILL NEVER FORGET YOU, ALİ!!!”
