Kerem Abdurahimoğlu guest speaker at ITB Youth Meetings
This month’s guest speaker was Kerem Abdurahimoğlu, President of the İskeçe Turkish Union, who participated in the event held on Tuesday, January 13, at the association’s premises. The meeting was moderated by Hamza Kıyıcı, Vice President of the ITB Youth Branch.
During the event, Abdurahimoğlu delivered an in-depth talk titled “The Western Thrace Turkish Minority, Rights Awareness, and a Youth Perspective.” His presentation addressed the concept of rights, the processes through which rights are obtained, the rights held by the Western Thrace Turkish Minority, and concrete examples of rights violations experienced from past to present.
Abdurahimoğlu emphasized the critical importance of strengthening rights awareness among young people and encouraged youth to take an active role in the minority’s ongoing struggle for equality and recognition.
Participants also had the opportunity to raise questions regarding violated minority rights and the strategies needed to protect them. The event concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session.
Officials from the ITB Youth Branch announced that the Youth Meetings series will continue in the coming months with different topics and guest speakers, aiming to promote youth awareness and active civic engagement.
