Kerameus: New employment program to subsidise 2,000 jobs in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace
Labour and Social Security Minister Niki Kerameus on Thursday spoke to the public broadcaster ERT about a new subsidized employment program in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.
She emphasized that the program concerns subsidies to businesses for the hiring 2,000 unemployed people in the two regions, with a subsidy of up to 875 euros per month for a duration of 12 months.
Speaking about the minimum wage, she noted that Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has pledged to raise it to 950 euros by 2027. She added that discussions are currently underway with the social partners, who are submitting their proposals regarding the level of the increase that will take effect on April 1. She will then present her recommendation on the matter to the Cabinet.
Kerameus also referred to the average wage, stating that the goal had been to reach 1,500 euros by 2027 - a target that, as she said, has already been achieved.
