İskeçe Turkish Union Youth Branch hosts “Atatürk Talk” event
The Youth Branch of the İskeçe Turkish Union (İTB) held an event titled “Atatürk Talk” on the evening of Thursday, 13 November 2025, at the İTB headquarters in İskeçe.
The event was presented by Mehmet Ege Mümün, with Hasan Karadayı serving as moderator. The program began with a one-minute moment of silence in memory of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades-in-arms.
Following the opening, Youth Branch members delivered presentations under the following topics:
- Sudem Ömer, Youth Branch President: “Atatürk’s Years in Thessaloniki (Birth, Family and Education)”
- Mehmet Baltacı, Youth Branch Member: “Atatürk’s Role in the Gallipoli Front”
- Aksu Veli, Youth Branch Member: “Atatürk and the National Struggle (How it began and how it led to victory)”
- İzgi Peçenik, Youth Branch Member: “Atatürk’s Vision for Modernization (The founding of the Republic and the reforms)”
After the presentations, brief addresses were delivered by Kerem Abdurahimoğlu, President of the İskeçe Turkish Union; Mustafa Trampa, Mufti of İskeçe and President of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority Advisory Board (BTTADK); and Aykut Ünal, Consul General of the Republic of Türkiye in Gümülcine.
The event was attended by DEB Party President Çiğdem Asafoğlu, Mustafçova Mayor Ahmet Kurt, Western Thrace Minority University Graduates Association (BTAYTD) President Hüseyin Baltacı, Komotini Turkish Youth Union President Sedat Hasan, Western Thrace Turkish Teachers’ Union President Aydın Ahmet, BAKEŞ General Director Pervin Hayrullah, former İTB presidents, board members, Youth Branch members, and many members of the minority community.
Participants expressed their appreciation for the young members’ presentations and congratulated the İskeçe Turkish Union Youth Branch for organizing such a meaningful event.
