The İskeçe Turkish Union (İTB) is organizing a commemorative event in honor of the late journalist and teacher Mehmet Hilmi, one of the founding members of the organization.
The İskeçe Turkish Union (İTB) is organizing a commemorative event in honor of the late journalist and teacher Mehmet Hilmi, one of the founding members of the organization.
The event, titled “Mehmet Hilmi Söyleşisi” (Mehmet Hilmi Talk), will take place on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at the İTB premises, beginning at 7:30 PM.
Speakers will include:
- Mustafa Trampa, Mufti of İskeçe and Chairman of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority Advisory Board
- Gönül Bekirusta, teacher
- Aydın Ahmet, President of the Western Thrace Turkish Teachers’ Union
- Ozan Ahmetoğlu, journalist and former İTB president
- The panel will be moderated by İTB President Kerem Abdurahimoğlu.
Ahead of the event, a short three-minute video detailing Mehmet Hilmi’s life and contributions has been produced and shared via İskeçe Turkish Union’s official social media channels.
