Interest of İskeçe businesses in the Selanik International Fair declines
Interest among İskeçe businesses to participate in the Selanik International Fair (TIF) this September is almost nonexistent. Only one company, NETELCO ABEE, which operates in machinery manufacturing and robotics in the İskeçe Industrial Zone (VIPE), has responded to the Chamber of Commerce’s invitation to exhibit at its pavilion.
According to Mariandi Malliaroudaki, President of the İskeçe Chamber, participation in TIF has been declining over the years:
In previous years, 1–2 retail businesses participated.
Last year, one business with handmade jewelry participated.
This year, only NETELCO ABEE confirmed participation.
The decline may be due to businesses preferring more specialized fairs to showcase their products rather than a large general exhibition like TIF. For example, the 20th Alexpo International Fair 2025 in Alexandroupoli attracted significant interest.
Local Product Exhibition Canceled
The annual local products exhibition held during the Old Town Festivals will not take place this year, as was also the case last year. The Chamber is preparing an alternative event, to be announced soon.
Other regional exhibitions include KavalaExpo and, for the second year, a joint exhibition at Athens Metro, organized by the six regional chambers following last year’s success.
