Immunity lifted of independent MP Burhan Baran

The immunity of Burhan Baran, independent MP for Xanthi, was lifted following a vote in the parliament.
In the plenary session of the Parliament, it was decided to lift the immunity of PASOK Party Xanthi MP Burhan Baran.
Burhan Baran was expelled from the parliamentary group of the PASOK - KINAL party, of which he is a member, due to the ongoing case against him, and he personally requested the lifting of his immunity at the meeting of the Parliamentary Deontology Commission on Thursday 11 April.
Burhan Baran's immunity was lifted with 269 yes votes in the parliamentary plenary session on Wednesday 24 April.
Burhan Baran, who had previously pleaded not guilty, had been expelled from the PASOK-KINAL Party Parliamentary Group until the end of the proceedings in a case in which he was accused of prescription irregularities.
