Iftar gathering in Mehrikoz brings the community together

The people of Mehrikoz village, under the jurisdiction of Kozlukebir Municipality, continue to uphold their traditional iftar gatherings, strengthening their community ties during Ramadan.
A Tradition of Togetherness
On Sunday, March 23, 2025, the residents of Mehrikoz once again came together for their annual iftar event. As in previous years, hundreds of fellow Turks from the region gathered to break their fast and reunite with one another.
The event was not only attended by local residents but also by notable guests, reflecting the significance of the gathering.
Warm Welcome & Spiritual Atmosphere
Guests were greeted at the courtyard of the village mosque by the trustees and villagers. As the evening azan (call to prayer) was recited, attendees collectively broke their fast, followed by a prayer led by Dr. Süleyman Taş, a religious scholar from Kocaeli Mufti’s Office in Türkiye.
Messages of Unity and Faith
After the meal, Ibrahim Şerif, the Mufti of Komotini (Gümülcine), and Aykut Ünal, Türkiye’s Consul General in Komotini, addressed the gathering.
Mufti Ibrahim Şerif expressed gratitude to those who contributed to organizing the iftar, saying:
"May Allah grant us health and the opportunity to reunite in this sacred place again. May He accept our fasts and prayers and bless us with a joyous Eid. May Allah be pleased with all of you."
Consul General Aykut Ünal thanked the people of Mehrikoz for their hospitality and extended an invitation to all attendees for the Eid reception at Türkiye’s Consulate General in Komotini on the first day of Eid al-Fitr.
Finally, Hasan Hacı, the Chairman of the Mehrikoz Village Trustees Board, expressed his appreciation to all participants for joining the iftar gathering.
The event concluded with the Maghrib (evening) prayer at the Mehrikoz village mosque, leaving the attendees with a deep sense of unity and spiritual fulfillment.
