A fire broke out inside a garbage truck collecting waste from several villages in the Maroneia Municipality after hot ashes from a stove were dumped into a trash bin.

The fire was reportedly caused by residents of one of the villages disposing of stove ashes in a garbage container, which ignited the waste inside the truck.

Firefighters quickly responded and extinguished the flames after the truck’s collected waste was emptied outside.

Deputy Mayor Haliloğlu Urges Caution
Following the incident, Okan Haliloğlu, Deputy Mayor of Maroneia responsible for Technical Affairs, issued a written statement, urging citizens to be more cautious in waste disposal.

"I want to express my deep concern and regret regarding this recent incident. The disposal of stove ashes into trash bins has caused minor damage to the garbage truck. This behavior not only disrupts public order but also hinders the proper functioning of services that benefit our community."

Haliloğlu emphasized the importance of collective responsibility and respect for public resources, stating that every individual’s actions affect the community as a whole.

"A healthy and harmonious society is built on social responsibility and mutual respect for shared resources. Each of our actions impacts the entire community, which is why we must act with awareness and responsibility."

He urged residents to work together to prevent similar incidents, ensuring a safe, clean, and fair environment for all.

"By acting collectively, we can strengthen our shared values and take the necessary steps for a secure and clean environment. Through cooperation and mutual respect, we can prevent such incidents from happening again and protect the well-being of our community."
