The Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection has included several regions of the country in "category 3" with "high fire risk".
High fire risk warning in Western Thrace

According to a statement by the Ministry, Attiki, Crete, Evia and the Peloponnese Peninsula, including the capital Athens, are among the regions with "high fire risk".

Western Thrace was included in "category 4" due to the "very high" probability of fire outbreak, the statement said, warning citizens near forest areas to avoid behaviours that may cause fire and to be careful.

On the other hand, it was reported that the fires that broke out yesterday and today in the forest areas near Yahyabeyli and Koyunköy, where Turks live in Western Thrace, were intervened from the air and land and were brought under control before they grew.

It was stated that the intervention to the forest fire that broke out near Thessaloniki at noon today continues.
