Head of School Council Ahmetoğlu: Providing education in both Turkish and Greek

Ozan Ahmetoğlu, Head of the School Council of the Xanthi Minority Secondary School and High School, spoke to Millet newspaper regarding the registration period for first-grade secondary students and the recently announced “Education and Student Support Project.”

REGISTRATION OPEN UNTIL JUNE 20

Ahmetoğlu stated that registration for first-year secondary school students began on June 10 and will continue until June 20. He urged parents of Turkish minority children graduating from primary school to register their children at the Xanthi Minority Secondary School, emphasizing that the school is a home and a familiar educational environment for these students.

DUAL EDUCATION IN TURKISH AND GREEK

Highlighting the school’s bilingual education system, Ahmetoğlu said, “Our school provides instruction in both Turkish and Greek. This dual-language education allows our students to master their mother tongue at an advanced level while gaining proficiency in Greek, the official language of the country. As a result, they grow into individuals capable of expressing themselves fluently in both languages, giving them an academic and social advantage.”

He also noted that the same applies to the Komotini Celal Bayar Minority Secondary School and High School. According to Ahmetoğlu, these schools are not only educational institutions but also cultural hubs that sustain the community’s identity and shared values.

INVITATION TO PARENTS FOR QUALITY EDUCATION

Parents are invited to complete the registration process in person at the school by presenting their identity cards (taftotita) before the June 20 deadline. Ahmetoğlu emphasized that registrations are not accepted in September, so timely registration is crucial.

“EDUCATION AND STUDENT SUPPORT PROJECT” LAUNCHED

This year, the School Council and the Parent-Teacher Association are launching the “Education and Student Support Project,” aimed at supporting students academically, socially, and culturally. Ahmetoğlu thanked all involved parties for their dedicated efforts.

He explained, “Our goal is to contribute positively to our school, students, and the future of our children by organizing various activities that promote educational and social development. These efforts strengthen students’ sense of belonging and enhance the school’s visibility and reputation within the community.”

Ahmetoğlu concluded by expressing gratitude to supporters, including local businesspeople, parents, and alumni, and reaffirmed their commitment to providing a strong and comprehensive education for the community’s children.
