Head of Region Topsidis visits hail damaged areas
The President of the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace (EMT), Christodoulos Topsidis, visited areas where crops were badly damaged by hail on 3 May.
On Wednesday 8 May, DMT State President Topsidis, together with the Deputy State President for the Rhodope Unit Emmanuil Tapacas, DMTE Assembly Member Ahmet Osman Pehlivan and the Director of the Thrace Unit of the Hellenic State Agricultural Indemnities Agency (ELGA) visited the hail affected areas.
During the visit, the state administrators were accompanied by the Mayor of Yassıköy, Mr Caner Imam. The state executives and ELGA Director received information from the producers and the mayor about the crops of cereals, maize, sunflower seeds, cotton, potatoes, kiwi and other trees damaged by the hailstorm.
On 3 May, hail was most effective in Balabanköy, Yalanca, Karamusa, Narlıköy and Ortacı villages within Yassıköy Municipality.
