Gümülcine Mufti’s Office continues “Spiritual Support” program for elderly and patients in Rhodope and Meriç
The initiative is led by the Women’s Religious Guidance Team (Bayan İrşad Ekibi), which regularly conducts community outreach aimed at strengthening social bonds and providing emotional and spiritual assistance.
Visits Across Villages and Neighborhoods
As part of the latest round of visits, the team met with elderly residents identified in several villages and neighborhoods, including:
- Kato Vrontou (Aşağıköy)
- Domruköy
- Mastanlı Neighborhood
- Bağlar Neighborhood
- Işıklar
- Mehrikoz
- Beşikli
- Çilingir
The visits focused on personal connection, conversation and spiritual encouragement, particularly for individuals facing health challenges or social isolation.
Strengthening Community Bonds
In an official statement, the Mufti’s Office highlighted the emotional and heartfelt atmosphere of the visits:
“In these sincere and emotional meetings, we had the opportunity to build heartfelt connections with our elders. Witnessing their joy and receiving their prayers deeply moved and encouraged us.”
The statement also emphasized that similar outreach activities will continue in other villages as part of the ongoing program.

The “Spiritual Support Program” aims to promote compassion, solidarity and intergenerational respect within the local Muslim community of Western Thrace. By prioritizing direct engagement with vulnerable groups, the initiative reinforces community cohesion and moral support networks in rural and semi-urban areas.
