GTGB New Generation Wing concludes Ankara and Konya trip

The New Generation Wing of the Gümülcine Turkish Youth Union (GTGB) successfully completed an educational and cultural trip to Ankara and Konya, held between December 25 and 28. The visit was attended by GTGB executives, members of the New Generation Wing’s administration, and participating students.

Ankara Leg Focused on History and Institutions

During the Ankara segment of the program, participants visited key historical and cultural landmarks, including Anıtkabir, the First Grand National Assembly Building, the Second Grand National Assembly Republic Museum, and the Presidential Nation’s Library. Through these visits, students gained in-depth knowledge of Türkiye’s political history and cultural heritage.

As part of the itinerary, the group also paid a visit to the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB). There, students met with YTB President Abdulhadi Turus, who provided detailed information about Türkiye Scholarships. The meeting featured an exchange of views, with students having the opportunity to ask questions and receive direct responses.

Cultural Highlights in Konya

In Konya, members of the GTGB New Generation Wing explored several prominent sites, including the Mevlana Museum, home to the tomb of Hz. Mevlana, the Konya Tropical Butterfly Garden—Türkiye’s first and Europe’s largest butterfly flight area—and the Konya Science Center.

Appreciation from GTGB

In a statement, GTGB expressed its gratitude to all those who contributed to the organization of the program, particularly YTB President Abdulhadi Turus and the officials of the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities, for their hospitality and support throughout the visit.

The trip aimed to strengthen cultural awareness, educational motivation, and ties between young members of the Turkish minority in Western Thrace and institutions in Türkiye.
