"Greece has clearly shown that it cannot tolerate even a supporters' association"
The reactions against the association, which was ordered closed down by the Komotini Civil Court of First Instance due to the phrase "Western Thrace" in its name, continue.
Before the European Parliament elections to be held on Sunday 9 June in Greece, many institutions reacted to the court decision to close down the Western Thrace Fenerbahce Association.
Finally, YTB President Abdullah Eren also made a statement on his social media account regarding the closure of the Western Thrace Fenerbahce Association.
President Eren made the following statements in his statement:
"I have learnt with astonishment and regret the decision of the Civil Court of First Instance of Komotini to close down the Western Thrace Fenerbahce Association. This unjust decision, which is intended to negatively affect the normalisation process of the relations between the two countries, which has recently gained momentum again, is a sign that Greece has gone further in its rights violations, let alone softening its attitude towards the Turkish Minority of Western Thrace. Greece, which previously closed associations bearing Turkish names, has clearly shown that it cannot tolerate even a supporters' association, let alone implementing the ECtHR judgements on this issue. I condemn this unlawful and antidemocratic decision and hope that this mistake will be reversed as soon as possible."
