General Assembly of Xanthi Turkish Union held successfully
The general assembly of Xanthi Turkish Union (ITB) took place on Sunday, 14 April with an intense participation. Elections for the board of directors and supervisory board of ITB were also held at the general assembly.
ITB general assembly started with the determination of the chairmanship of the council. In the general assembly, Hasan Bosnak was elected as the chairman of the council and Merve Kara and Binnur Osmanoğlu were elected as the clerks.
After a minute of silence for the deceased leaders of the Xanthi Turkish Union and the leaders of the Turkish Minority of Western Thrace, greeting speeches were made. President of the Western Thrace Minority University Graduates Association Hüseyin Baltacı, Mayor of Mustafçova Ahmet Kurt, President of the FEP Party Çiğdem Asafoğlu, Independent MP for Xanthi Burhan Baran, MP for Xanthi New Left Party Hüseyin Zeybek and Mufti of Xanthi Mustafa Trampa made speeches.
The general assembly continued with the reading of the activity report by Ozan Ahmetoğlu, President of ITB. Ahmetoğlu also touched upon the current problems of the Western Thrace Turks and gave information about the struggle of the Turkish Union of Xanthi for its rights. Reminding that 14 April is the birthday of ITB, Ahmetoğlu congratulated the 97th anniversary of ITB. Ahmetoğlu also thanked the congratulatory message published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey on its social media accounts on the occasion of the 97th anniversary
Ahmet Kara, Fikri İhtiyar and Murat Sebahattinoğlu, ITB lawyers, took the floor in the criticisms and suggestions section of the general assembly.
After Murat Sebahattinoğlu read the audit report on behalf of the Audit Board, the former management was acquitted. Then, the candidates for the new management and supervisory board were determined and the voting process started. 411 members voted in the elections.
