Free medical check-ups and vaccinations for children in Maronia–Sapci Municipality

The Maronia–Sapci Municipality, in collaboration with the non-profit organization “Health for All”, the “Mitera” Children’s Clinic, the Sapci Health Center, and the Endocrinology Department of the University of Athens, has successfully completed a pediatric medical examination and vaccination campaign targeting Roma children in the region.

The campaign took place on Tuesday, September 23, at the Sapci Roma Community Center branch. Its goal was to protect children’s health, strengthen disease prevention, and improve access to essential healthcare services.

During the program, children received full medical check-ups as well as vaccinations against pneumococcus, meningitis, diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis, hepatitis A and B, polio, haemophilia, and chickenpox. The vaccines were supplied through donations from pharmaceutical companies to the “Health for All” organization, which also coordinated the medical teams. Thanks to the close relationship between the Roma Community Center staff and local families, the campaign was carried out smoothly and effectively.

Maronia–Sapci Mayor Apostolos Ioannou, who attended the event, emphasized:

“Local government must stand by every child and every family; this is our duty. By working with respected scientific and social institutions, we can strengthen preventive healthcare, ensure equal access, and build a fairer, healthier future for our community.”

Deputy Mayor Maria Trifonidou, responsible for Administration, Finance, Green Spaces, and Public Areas, added:

“The health of our children is our top priority. With initiatives like this, we prove that preventive healthcare, equal access, and social solidarity can be realized even for the most vulnerable groups.”

The initiative was hailed as an important step in enhancing children’s health security, while also strengthening solidarity and improving quality of life in the local community.
