Former speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Mustafa Şentop visits Western Thrace
During the meeting, Şentop was accompanied by a delegation that included MPs such as Özlem Zengin, Muhammed Emin Akbaşoğlu, Nilgün Ök, Mutlu Aydemir, İshak Gazel, Hilmi Bilgin, and Mehmet Demir. The Consul General of Turkey in Komotini, Aykut Ünal, was also present.
The President of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority Advisory Board (BTTADK), İbrahim Şerif, welcomed Şentop and the delegation, expressing his gratitude for their visit. In his speech, Mustafa Şentop reaffirmed Türkiye’s steadfast support for the Turkish minority in Western Thrace, emphasizing that Turkey will always be attentive to their challenges.
Following the meeting, İbrahim Şerif shared the following statement:
"Former TBMM Speaker Mr. Mustafa Şentop and his delegation, on their Balkan tour, stopped by Western Thrace on their return journey and met with members of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority Advisory Board at the Xanthi Turkish Union. We thank them for their visit."
The Turkish Consulate in Komotini also highlighted the visit in a statement, saying, "The 29th Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Şentop, and his delegation met with members of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority Advisory Board at the Xanthi Turkish Union."
