Five new firefighter positions allocated to İskeçe, 55 across Eastern Macedonia and Thrace
The Greek government has approved the recruitment of 55 new firefighters for the Eastern Macedonia and Thrace region, including five positions for the Regional Unit of İskeçe, as part of efforts to strengthen fire protection capacity during the wildfire season.
The new appointments will be distributed among the region's fire services, with authorities aiming to reinforce operational readiness amid heightened wildfire risks during the summer months.
The recruitment forms part of a broader national strategy to enhance emergency response capabilities and improve civil protection services across Greece.
Officials expect the additional personnel to support local fire brigades in wildfire prevention, emergency response and civil protection operations throughout the region.
