Five arrested over armed robberies in İskeçe

Police have arrested five men in the northern city of İskeçe (Xanthi) over a series of armed robberies, authorities said.
Officers from the İskeçe (Xanthi) Crime Investigation Unit solved three cases linked to the group — two completed robberies and one attempted hold-up — carried out between December 2025 and January 2026. A sixth suspect is still being sought.
According to police, the suspects acted in varying groups, covering their faces as they entered two shops on January 12 and 16, threatening employees with a firearm and stealing cash before fleeing.
Investigators also determined that the group attempted a robbery at another business on December 16, 2025, but abandoned the plan.
Searches of suspects’ homes and belongings led to the seizure of a handgun, cash, gloves, clothing and mobile phones.
The investigation is ongoing.
