Ferhat: "This year, 70 per cent of the crops are expected to be lost due to the weather conditions"
Özgür Ferhat, MP for the New Left Party in Rhodope, drew attention to the recent drought in the region and stated that agricultural producers are in more trouble than ever.
Ferhat, who visited the villages of Durhasanlar, Dolapçılar, Hacıköy and Işıklar in Kozlukebir Municipality of Rhodope province due to the drought, stated that 70 per cent loss in crops is expected this year due to the extraordinary weather conditions. Özgür Ferhat, who made a written statement after his visit to the region, said: "Not politics over tobacco, but helping tobacco through politics!
Due to drought and extreme heat, the crops in our region have dried up, the cultivated lands are becoming desert and our farmers are facing more difficult situations than ever. Today, we continued our field work and checked the TOBACCO fields in KOZLUKEBIR (DURHASANLAR, DOLAPÇILAR, HACIKÖY, IŞIKLAR) regions together with the ruling and opposition members elected to the municipal council!
Due to the extraordinary weather conditions this year, 70% or more loss is expected in the crops! As a deputy of the region, I aim to bring together all relevant institutions and organisations, to offer solutions and to ensure that decisions are taken to help producers!
