FEP Party President Çiğdem Asafoğlu issues message on Teachers' Day
Her message reads as follows:
“Today is a day to honor our esteemed teachers, who shape the future of our society and spread the light of knowledge and wisdom across the world. November 24 is not merely a celebration but also a day to remember and express gratitude for the efforts, patience, and sacrifices of our teachers. It is they who ensure that our children and youth are equipped not only with knowledge but also with virtue and a commitment to serving humanity.
However, on this meaningful day, our greatest sorrow remains the deprivation of the Western Thrace Muslim Turkish Minority’s internationally recognized educational rights. The disregard of these rights by our country’s authorities, particularly in decisions regarding minority education, stands as a stark example. The closure of numerous minority schools, the refusal to allow bilingual nursery education, and the unfulfilled promises concerning the Xanthi Minority Middle and High School highlight this injustice.
We firmly believe that the injustices will be overcome through the generations of well-educated, questioning, and informed individuals nurtured by our teachers.
On this significant day, I wholeheartedly celebrate the Teachers’ Day of all dedicated educators who fulfill their sacred duties with care and excellence in Western Thrace, our country, and around the world.”
