FEP Party Chairman Asafoğlu attended the General Assembly of EFA
The items on the agenda were discussed on the first day of the General Assembly. General assembly minutes were accepted and new membership requests to EFA were voted on. The proposals, program and project issues for the "Future of Europe Conference" were also discussed.
On the second day of the General Assembly, political parties, members of EFA submitted their own minority's motions. The FEP Party delegation also presented a motion containing the current situation and problems of the Western Thrace Muslim Turkish Minority.
In the proposal, it was emphasized that the 'Thrace Development Commission' established for Western Thrace and its surroundings was insufficient and did not help the economic difficulties experienced by the minority.
It was pointed out that it was wrong to harm the minority with legal regulations in the autonomous structure of religion and education issues.
Finally, it was underlined that although all Greek citizens, including minority members, have the right to define their own identity, it is a violation of rights to define a minority only on the basis of their religious characteristics.
During the General Assembly, President Çiğdem Asafoğlu, who also met with the Deputies of the European Parliament, consulted about the plans and projects that can be made for the future.
Asafoğlu was accompanied by BAKEŞ general manager Dr. Pervin Hayrullah.
