Fenerbahçe Fans Association slams those who use the association for political interests
The management of the Western Thrace Fenerbahce Fans Association operating in Komotini, in a statement released on Monday, March 27, 2023, emphasized that various political circles are trying to confuse the society and the fans with some unnecessary comments regarding the legal status of the association before the parliamentary elections to be held in Greece.
Reacting to the politicians who act outside the association's management and who want to gain political profit from the legal struggle of the association, the management made a statement and stated the following:
"Dear Western Thrace kinsmen, very valuable Western Thrace Fenerbahce Sports and Culture Association members and friends;
In February, our Association became the subject of the agenda due to the closure case brought against the Western Thrace Fenerbahce Sports and Culture Association by the Court of First Instance of Rhodope.
At the same time, the developments about our Association have caused many questions and various comments among our people. For this reason, Western Thrace Fenerbahce Sports and Culture Association, that is, as the real interlocutor of this process, it has become necessary to clarify some important issues.
Western Thrace Fenerbahce Sports and Culture Association was officially established in November last year, in accordance with the provisions of the Greek Civil Code, by the decision of the Komotini Magistrate.
Our association is a sports and cultural legal entity as defined in its name and in its statute registered by the court. In the past, supporters' associations were observed in Western Thrace, which were founded with similar purposes and names, but were dissolved due to their own specific reasons.
Our Western Thrace Fenerbahce Sports and Culture Association, which occupies the agenda, is a new organization and, as in every civilized and democratic society, it was established by considering all current and relevant national and international legislation, and does not contain any illegitimate elements in its name and purposes. No kin, member or friend of ours should have any doubt about this.
However, it is understood that various political circles of our region are trying to confuse our society and our supporters with some unnecessary comments regarding the legal status of our Association before the parliamentary elections to be held in our country, Greece.
At the same time, although they glorify the global benefits of sports and give messages of friendship and support, it is seen that Fenerbahçe Sports Club and Western Thrace Fenerbahçe Fans Sports and Culture Association are trying to make politics and propaganda.
As Western Thrace Fenerbahce Fans Sports and Culture Association, we want you to know that; as discussed within the body of Fenerbahçe Sports Club, which has never lost its moral support to us, Fenerbahçe is bigger than individuals and politics.
Except for our current legal team and the management of our association, we have not appointed any political person as the defender of our Association before the justice of the country and our society.
These duties are performed in accordance with the laws stipulated in our charter. Attempts to create perception and gain benefits through our Association by not respecting the functioning of our Association are not approved by us.
As a result, we demand from everyone not to use the Fenerbahçe Sports Club and especially the Western Thrace Fenerbahçe Fans Sports and Culture Association in politics, for personal and political interests, to patiently follow the legal process in progress, and from our esteemed fellow citizens, members and friends, we want our Association to be a party to the political discussions. We ask them not to respect those who try to do so, and to embrace our Association, which follows legal paths, with interest."
