On October 2, 2024, a significant event was held at the Turkish Association of Travel Agents (TURSAB) headquarters in Istanbul to promote the Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Region (AMTH) as a premier four-season travel destination.

The initiative is part of a broader tourism promotion campaign titled “An Embrace Full of Greece,” aiming to highlight the region's appeal to international travelers, particularly in the Turkish market.

The event featured a formal presentation by Deputy Regional Governor Panagiotis Archontis and members of the tourism promotion team, Giorgos Panagopoulos and Babis Sofroniadis. Mr. Sofroniadis led the presentation, with opening remarks by Greece's Consul General in Istanbul, Konstantinos Koutras, and the Head of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) in Istanbul, Dimitra Bampali. Both officials emphasized the importance of familiarizing Turkish citizens with the region, with Bampali closing her remarks by stating, "Culture unites by breaking down prejudices and barriers."

The event provided an opportunity for key representatives from leading travel agencies and tourism organizations to learn about the region’s main attractions, as part of the campaign's central message: "An Embrace Full of Greece." Following the presentations, a series of targeted Business-to-Business (B2B) meetings took place between the region's representatives and invited travel and media professionals to foster collaboration and partnerships.

Throughout the event, guests were treated to finger food made from unique local products, showcasing the region's rich gastronomic offerings, which play an essential role in enhancing its tourism identity.

This initiative is a strategic part of the Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Region’s broader tourism promotion program, designed to present a positive and refreshed image to the Turkish market. The goal is to highlight the region’s advantages and establish it as a prominent destination for both professional tourism categories and individual travelers.
