The tension between the government and the main opposition in the Municipality of Komotini due to the electricity debts of the municipality continues.
Electricity Minority kindergarten cut off due to the municipality's debt

Kostas Mainas, Member of the Common Vision Council of the Municipality of Komotini, from the main opposition wing, said in a written statement:

“The ONLY REASON FOR THIS IS THE ACCUMULATED DEBT OF HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF EURO OF KOMOTINI MUNICIPALITY

“The debts of the Municipality of Komotini to the electricity companies for schools caused great social problems, so the electricity of the Kalfa kindergarten was cut off on Thursday, 08/12/2022, and the only reason for this is the accumulated debt of the Municipality of Komotini for hundreds of thousands of euros. Bringing the issue to the agenda before, We remind you that we ask Garanis and the chairmen of the primary and secondary education commissions he appointed to settle the debts.

We would like to remind you that all these debts Since the Garanis administration has been formed since it came to power and the primary and secondary education commissions belong to the municipality, they are the only ones responsible for this situation.

We would also like to emphasize that no other municipality across the country has a school power cut due to debts.

Mr. While the management of Garanis celebrates the largest budget and Technical Program in the history of the Municipality of Komotini, worth tens of millions of euros, the electricity of the schools of the Municipality of Komotini is cut off at the same time.

At the same time, in an interview in the local press on Friday, 09/12/2020, Garanis says that no school in Komotini Municipality will be left without electricity. For this reason, either the Mayor is unaware of what is going on in the Municipality of Komotini, or he is knowingly lying to the citizens. We really don't know what's worse.

The questions asked to the municipal administration through the public are as follows:

1) Should the education community, parents, and students be worried about another power outage?

2) What is the total debt of the Municipality of Komotini to the electricity companies for schools?

3) Since many schools of Komotini Municipality have problems caused by power cuts, when will this unprecedented event in Greece, which is embarrassing for Komotini Municipality, end?
