Eid Celebration brings families together at İskeçe Turkish Union “Family Night”
The İskeçe Turkish Union hosted its traditional “Family Night” to celebrate Eid, attracting hundreds of participants and creating a festive atmosphere of community, culture, and solidarity.
Held at the Politia Wedding Hall, the event featured speeches, cultural performances, and exhibitions of handmade crafts created by the union’s sewing and embroidery courses. The evening was organized and emceed by youth branch members Aksu Veli and Mehmet Baltacı.
Leadership and Community Messages
In his opening speech, Union President Kerem Abdurahimoğlu congratulated attendees on the holiday and emphasized the importance of unity across generations: “Our union continues to rise on the strong wings of the new generation,” he said, praising the work of the community in bringing people together.
The night included performances by youth and adult folk dance teams, and musical entertainment from Grup Orijinal Ton and Rumeli Ekrem, adding energy and a festive vibe to the celebration.
The event drew notable guests from diplomatic, political, and religious circles, including Aykut Ünal and consulate staff, Mustafa Trampa, Çiğdem Asafoğlu, MPs Hüseyin Zeybek, Burhan Baran, and Özgür Ferhat, as well as local officials including Ahmet Kurt.
Celebration of Culture and Solidarity
Handmade exhibits and folk performances highlighted the cultural heritage of the Western Thrace Turkish community. Participants enjoyed a lively evening of music, dance, and fellowship, reflecting the union’s dedication to fostering unity and cultural continuity.
At the close of the evening, the Union’s management thanked attendees and sponsors for their support, underscoring the event’s role in strengthening communal bonds.
