Edirne Governor hold talks in Western Thrace
Edirne Governor Kürşat Kırbıyık and his delegation visited Western Thrace on Wednesday, November 2, and visited Mufti of Komotini İbrahim Şerif and Mufti of Xanthi Mustafa Trampa.
Edirne Governor Kürşat Kırbıyık and his delegation visited Western Thrace on Wednesday, November 2, and visited Mufti of Komotini İbrahim Şerif and Mufti of Xanthi Mustafa Trampa.
The delegation, consisting of Edirne Governor Kürşat Kırbıyık, Edirne Provincial Police Chief Mustafa Alçalar, Trakya University Rector Prof. Dr. Erhan Tabakoğlu, Edirne Chief Prosecutor Mustafa Çakmak, Thrace Customs and Foreign Trade Regional Director Nihat Kınık, Edirne Mufti Alettin Bozkurt and İpsala District Governor Ömer Sevgi, first visited Turkey's Consulate General in Komotini and met with Consul General Murat Ömeroğlu.
The delegation from Governor Kırbıyık and Edirne later visited the Chairman of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority Advisory Board and the Mufti of Komotini İbrahim Şerif in his office. Mufti Şerif told the delegation about the work of the mufti and the problems of the Turkish minority.
The delegation from Edirne then went to Xanthi. The delegation headed by Edirne Governor Kürşat Kırbıyık visited the grave of the late Xanthi Mufti Ahmet Mete and prayed here. Governor Kırbıyık and his entourage visited Xanthi Mufti Mustafa Trampa in his office. Members of the delegation from Edirne wished the Mufti of Xanthi Mustafa Trampa success in his duty.
Mufti Trampa told Edirne Governor Kırbıyık and his delegation about the work of the mufti and the problems faced by the Western Thrace Turkish Minority. The visit ended with the exchange of gifts.
Edirne Governor Kürşat Kırbıyık and his entourage met with the members of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority Advisory Board after the visit to the mufti.
Afterwards, the visiting delegation went to the Komotini Kırmahalle Mosque and performed the afternoon prayer. Finally, the delegation visited the late leader of the Western Thrace Turks, Dr. Sadik Ahmet's grave and prayed.
The delegation then left Komotini to return to Edirne.
The Governor of Edirne and the accompanying delegation were accompanied by Turkey's Consul General to Komotini Murat Ömeroğlu and Vice-Consul Barış Çulha throughout the visit.
