Eastern Macedonia and Thrace to hold four innovation labs across the region in October

The Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace will organise four Innovation Labs in October to promote research, innovation and cooperation between businesses, academic institutions and other regional stakeholders.

The events will take place in Alexandroupoli (Dedeağaç), Komotini (Gümülcine), Kavala and Xanthi (İskeçe), under the region’s Smart Specialisation Strategy for Research and Innovation mechanism, known as S3remth, in cooperation with local chambers of commerce.

The initiative aims to identify the real needs of businesses, encourage dialogue between the private sector and research institutions, and develop proposals to support regional innovation.

FOUR EVENTS SCHEDULED FOR OCTOBER 16–21
The programme will begin in Alexandroupoli on Friday, October 16, with a session at the Evros Chamber of Commerce from 5:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m.

The remaining events are scheduled as follows:

Komotini (Gümülcine): Monday, October 19, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m., at the Rhodope Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Kavala: Tuesday, October 20, from 6 p.m. to 8:45 p.m., at the Kavala Chamber of Commerce.
Xanthi (İskeçe): Wednesday, October 21, from 6 p.m. to 8:45 p.m., at the Xanthi Chamber of Commerce.
The sessions are open to businesses, research and academic institutions, organisations, professional associations and members of the public interested in innovation and regional development.

CONNECTING BUSINESS NEEDS WITH RESEARCH
The Innovation Labs are designed to provide meeting spaces where businesses and other stakeholders can identify challenges, exchange ideas and explore opportunities for collaboration.

Organisers emphasise that understanding the actual needs of the market is essential to developing effective regional innovation policies. By bringing businesses together with researchers and academic institutions, the initiative seeks to turn practical challenges into new ideas, projects and partnerships.

The programme operates under the message: “From need to idea! From idea to cooperation!”

Through the workshops, the regional authorities aim to encourage the participation of the local business and scientific communities in shaping the next steps of the region’s Smart Specialisation Strategy.
