Dr. Sadık Ahmet to be commemorated on the 30th anniversary of his passing
Dr. Sadık Ahmet, a symbol of the Western Thrace Turkish minority’s struggle for rights and the founder of the Friendship Equality Peace (FEP) Party, will be commemorated on the 30th anniversary of his passing with events organized in Komotini (Gümülcine).
Book Launch & Panel Discussion
The commemoration program will begin on Thursday, July 24, at 17:00, with a book launch and panel discussion at the Turkish Youth Union of Komotini (GTGB).
The event will feature the introduction of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Uğur Yasin Asal’s new book, “Dr. Sadık Ahmet and the Struggle for Minority Rights in the Records of the Greek Parliament.”
Following the book launch, a panel titled “Dr. Sadık Ahmet and the Turkish Minority of Western Thrace on the 30th Anniversary of His Death” will take place.

After the GTGB program, a commemorative ceremony will be held at Dr. Sadık Ahmet’s grave at 19:00.
The events are being organized by the FEP Party and the Sadık Ahmet family, and all members of the public are invited to attend.
Dr. Sadık Ahmet is remembered as a tireless advocate for the rights of the Turkish minority in Greece and continues to inspire generations with his legacy.
