Deputy Minister Bozay visits Celal Bayar Minority High School
Mehmet Kemal Bozay, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye, who arrived in Western Thrace to attend the commemoration ceremony organized on Wednesday, 24 July 2024 on the occasion of the 29th anniversary of the death of Dr. Sadık Ahmet, visited the Celal Bayar Minority Secondary School and High School in Komotini on Thursday morning, 25 July.
During his visit to the school, Deputy Minister Bozay was accompanied by Turkish Ambassador to Athens Çağatay Erciyes, Director General for Bilateral Political Affairs and Maritime Aviation Border Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Burak Özügergin and Consul General of Komotini Aykut Ünal. The Deputy Minister and the accompanying delegation were welcomed in the school yard by the Board of Councillors, the school principal and teachers.
Deputy Minister Bozay first visited some of the classrooms and received information from the school principal Tunalp Mehmet, and then held a meeting with the educators. At the beginning of the meeting, Bozay shared his feelings and thoughts about his visit to the school and said, "My mother and father were also teachers. It is a very different feeling for me to be in such a place of knowledge and wisdom, which was opened by former President Celal Bayar."
Stating that everything starts with education, Deputy Minister Bozay said; "The education of our compatriots here is our first priority. It is necessary to adapt to the age, if you do not, you cannot turn at turning points. It is very important that 600 students are studying here. That is why we visited this place. In a competitive environment, our compatriots should not be left behind. That is why we are here. We are with them. I would like to thank you again for hosting us here."
Deputy Minister Bozay then listened to the problems faced by Celal Bayar Minority Secondary School and High School and minority education in general, as well as the requests and demands of the educators.
