Debt settlement with municipalities until January 31 – discounts explained

Citizens and businesses have the opportunity to settle debts amounting to €3.6 billion with significant discounts of up to 95% on fines and surcharges.

The settlement applies to debts verified by October 31, 2024, including various obligations such as debts to Municipal Water and Sewerage Enterprises.

Payments can be made in up to 60 monthly installments, with a minimum installment amount of €50. The total amount eligible for settlement is estimated at €3.6 billion.

For individuals classified as vulnerable debtors, the program offers significant discounts on fines and surcharges:

95% for one-time payment,
85% for repayment in 2-6 installments,
80% for repayment in 7-12 installments,
75% for repayment in 13-60 installments.
However, failure to pay two consecutive installments or a total of three installments results in the cancellation of the arrangement. The remaining debts will then be re-registered with the fines and surcharges that were previously written off reinstated.
