Dangerous weather warning: Caution urged at stream crossing points
The Eastern Macedonia–Thrace Region has issued a warning urging citizens to exercise caution at stream crossing points due to adverse weather conditions affecting the area.
Authorities noted that following heavy rainfall, water levels in streams and dry streambeds have risen significantly, emphasizing that attempting to cross these areas poses serious risks.
Stream crossing points are sections of roads that pass through streams or dry streambeds and are normally accessible to both vehicles and pedestrians. However, increased water flow after intense rainfall can quickly turn these crossings into extremely dangerous spots.
Officials warned that rising water levels create a high risk of vehicles and pedestrians being swept away. For this reason, citizens are strongly advised not to attempt to cross stream crossings that are covered by water.
Authorities also urged the public to follow official warnings closely and to avoid unnecessary travel until adverse weather conditions subside.
