Conference in Eskişehir discusses Western Thrace and Dr. Sadık Ahmet
A conference themed "Western Thrace and Dr. Sadık Ahmet" was held at the Eskişehir Türk Ocağı on December 26, 2024. The event featured a speech by Işık Sadık Ahmet, the wife of the late Dr. Sadık Ahmet, a prominent leader of the Turkish minority in Western Thrace.
During the conference, Işık Sadık Ahmet shared insights into her late husband’s lifelong struggle for the rights of Western Thrace Turks. She highlighted Dr. Ahmet's efforts to take the case of Western Thrace Turks to the European Court of Human Rights, defending their rights on an international level. She stated, “Sadık Ahmet, who always advocated for the rights of Western Thrace Turks in every environment and platform, paid the price of saying 'I am Turkish' with a life spent in prison and under constant threats.”
The conference, which garnered strong interest from students of Western Thrace origin studying in Eskişehir, was followed by a post on Işık Sadık Ahmet’s social media account, expressing gratitude for the participation. She wrote:
