Committee of Council opposes Greek Foreign Ministry's claims on minority education
Responding to the statements of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the absence of discrimination regarding the education of minority children, the committee asked what it means when approximately 700 students in Xanthi Minority Secondary and High School were sentenced to an old tobacco warehouse for years.
Noting that the requests for appointments with the Ministry of Education have not yet been answered, the Committee of Council invited all the officials to the school to see the problems of the school once again.
The Xanthi Minority Secondary and High School Committee of the Council responded to the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as follows:
"We feel the need to ask the following questions regarding the education of minority children and especially regarding your statement that there is no discrimination.
Despite all the demands and initiatives of the Committee of Council and the actions of the parents in this regard, the 'imprisonment' of approximately 700 students who are trying to get education at Xanthi Minority Secondary and High School in a tobacco warehouse for years, is for the benefit of all citizens of our state equally and without discrimination, only for the benefit of the students. Should it be regarded as an attempt to provide a level of education?
Should we consider the refusal of the Xanthi Minority Secondary and High School Committee's request for an appointment to discuss the school building problem with the Ministry of Education officials as a move made to ensure a high level of education for all citizens of our state, equally and without discrimination, only for the benefit of students?
As the Committee of the Council, we have not seen a single moment of sincerity in all the meetings we have held so far. We think that even a moment of sincerity will be enough to resolve this issue. Does our state intend to be sincere about this issue even for a moment?
Finally, we invite you and the Ministry of Education officials to our school to determine the above mentioned things on the spot.
