Cihan Imamoglu again Deputy Regional President
In the regional elections held in Greece on 8 October, Cihan İmamoğlu, who was a candidate from the region of Rodopi from the list of Hristos Metios, was out of the parliament despite receiving very good votes as a result of his list losing the elections.
New mayors and councillors elected in local elections in both municipalities and regions will take office on 1 January 2024. Until then, the current mayors and administrations will continue their duties.
Hristos Metios, the President of the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, who is currently in office and who will be the main opposition leader in the next period, has appointed Cihan İmamoğlu, who has been working as a counsellor until the end of his term of office, as the Vice President of the Region Responsible for Agricultural Development. This decision of Metios was published in the official gazette.
Following the honourable proposal of Christos Metios and the publication of the relevant decision in the Official Gazette - until the end of our term of office in the region administration - I have assumed the position of Deputy Region President for Agricultural Development with a great sense of responsibility.
On this occasion, I would like to assure you once again that my desire and willingness to serve our people will never end and that I will always be with our citizens every day and at all times from every political position that our society deems me worthy and will see me, as I have done for the last 16 years."
