Children celebrate April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day at Turkish Consulate in Gümülcine

The Turkish Consulate General in Gümülcine hosted a vibrant celebration marking National Sovereignty and Children's Day, bringing together children and families for a day of festivities and community spirit.

Held in the garden of the Consulate General of Turkey in Gümülcine, the event drew strong participation from local families, with children enjoying a variety of activities designed to celebrate the holiday.

Warm Welcome and Festive Atmosphere
Guests were welcomed at the entrance by Consul General Aykut Ünal and his wife, İlayda Ünal, who interacted closely with attendees throughout the program.

In his opening remarks, Ünal highlighted the significance of April 23, emphasizing that the day is not only dedicated to children but also a moment for families to reconnect with their own childhood spirit.

“Today is as much a day for our children as it is for parents to feel like children again,” he said.
Emphasis on Children’s Future

Stressing the importance of nurturing children’s dreams, Ünal noted that building a better future depends on supporting younger generations:

“Providing our children with a bright future aligned with their dreams and aspirations is a shared responsibility for all of us.”

He also invited families to take part in the traditional April 23 custom of allowing children to sit in official seats, offering them the opportunity to take commemorative photos in his office.
