Call on Greece to restore educational autonomy
Participants included Prof. Dr. Fırat Yaldız from the Rhodes and Kos Turks Culture and Solidarity Association (ROISDER), Aydın Ahmet, President of the Western Thrace Turkish Teachers’ Union (BTTÖB), and Ahmet Kara, former President of the Union of School Committees of Minority Schools in Western Thrace. Each delivered presentations focusing on structural problems within minority education.
In the working session titled “Minority Education at the Secondary and High School Levels”, Ozan Ahmetoğlu, President of the School Committee of Xanthi (İskeçe) Minority Secondary School and High School, detailed the educational difficulties faced by the Turkish community in Western Thrace as well as the Turks of Rhodes and Kos.
Speakers collectively called on Greece to restore educational autonomy, emphasizing that minority education must be safeguarded in accordance with international treaties and democratic principles.
